The purpose of the OKAPT is to provide a common meeting ground for persons involved or
interested in the therapeutic use of play.
The objectives of the OKAPT shall be to:

Advance the discipline of play therapy
by encouraging high standards of
professional conduct by providing
opportunities for education, training,
and supervision in play therapy.
Promote training, research and
development of materials which further
the practice of play therapy.
Provide active communication and
networking opportunities with other
play therapists in the local area.
Promote sound play therapy practices
in the interest of sociaty and the
individual by informing and educating
the general public and the mental
health community concerning the role
of play therapy in referral, assessment,
and treatment.
Establish contacts with various
organizations for support and
educational pursuits.
As well as advocate for the rights of
children, their families, and significant
others.
